Did you know that West Michigan is the second most agriculturally diverse state in the nation behind California? In fact, Michigan is one of the top-producing states in growing blueberries. More than 50% of all Michigan blueberries are shipped at fresh markets, but July and August are the perfect time to enjoy a West Michigan summer tradition…picking fresh blueberries (and snacking on them along the way).

Bowermans Blueberry Farm Market is my favorite place to pick the juiciest berries from more than 90 acres of crop. This family-owned farm has fields for you to pick from and a fresh market for you to sample their famous blueberry doughnuts, ice cream, smoothies, pies, jams, and so much more.

The market has a great shop with the most adorable gifts to share with friends and family, products like lip balm, maple syrups, and Michigan-made raw honey. Word has it that you’ll get a free doughnut if you wear their merchandise into the store!

After picking out your blueberry treat, enjoy the outdoors, relax on patio benches, and if you have kids there is a great playground outside for a fun space to enjoy delicious treats onsite.

We hope to inspire you with some of our favorite recipes to make with local blueberries.
