Get active with your community in West Michigan! Plenty of volunteer options exist for you and your friends and family to participate in. Learn about more volunteer opportunities you can be a part of in West Michigan.

One volunteer event that is happening right now until November is myTEAM TRIUMPH. This is an athletic ride-along program created for children, teens, adults, and veterans who are disabled and would not normally be able to experience endurance events such as triathlons or road races. This non-profit organization started in March 2008 in Grand Rapids and is passionate and dedicated to providing the ultimate experience in road racing and triathlon sports to those with disabilities.

Tristan, an intern at our strategic partner organization, The Right Place, has been volunteering with myTEAM TRIUMPH for as long as he can remember. He was seven years old when the organization was founded, and he began helping with equipment, race setup, and tear-down. His first race was with his dad when he was eleven years old, and he has been involved in the organization ever since volunteering in a variety of roles.

Tristan feels like he makes a positive impact in the community by giving everyone the chance to compete in races. This organization is making West Michigan (and beyond) a more inclusive environment. Their secondary goal is to inspire the community to perform at least one random act of kindness each day. One random act of kindness you can do is help a friend get active and help motivate them!

MyTEAM TRIUMPH is always looking for new Captains (individuals with disabilities who race), Angels (the athlete pushing or pulling the Captains), and volunteers! Racing with myTeam Triumph is a great way to provide athletic experiences to individuals who cannot race on their own.  If you would like to get involved in the races visit their website.
