What do an orange tabby cat and a 15-foot-long U-Haul have in common? They were all essential for Steven’s transition from Ohio to West Michigan. After seven hours of travel, he finally arrived at his new apartment on the West side.

Steven made the transition to West Michigan to work for our member, Amway, as a Digital Analyst. He didn’t have a traditional relocation because of the new work-from-home guidelines and expectations. As we are all navigating virtual meetings and working from home, Steven had an exceptionally unique situation due to being hired amidst the pandemic. He started working remotely for Amway and has been getting to know his teammates over video chat. Steven says, “Working from home has been great. I’ve been super productive, and everyone is willing to help. Great work/life balance!” In his new role, he focuses on web and user analytics to understand how to best market products to consumers.

Steven is eager to get involved in the West Michigan community and explore volunteering and community activities. A fun fact about Steven is that he has donated over two gallons of blood throughout his lifetime. He knows the importance of helping individuals from inside and outside of his community and gives back by donating frequently. For this reason, one of the services he recommends is Versiti Blood Services in West Michigan. Now, more than ever, blood donations are needed across the globe.

As he settles in, his favorite part of living in West Michigan is the atmosphere and finding positivity with everyone he meets. Although he has not been able to check out restaurants or bars yet, he loves boating, drinking craft beers, and is looking forward to enjoying outdoor experiences during all four seasons.
