West Michigan residents enjoy the full four seasons – sunny summers at the beach, crisp fall outings to apple orchards, weekday ski trips throughout winter, and bloom-filled springs.

Summer in West Michigan provides residents and visitors with an abundance of opportunities and activities. The summer weather stays consistently high, ranging from 70-90s, and as the summer months progress, the sun becomes hotter. June stays cooler at the lower end of the high-temperature spectrum. Heat begins to rise in July and August which provides an opportunity to visit the many beaches in West Michigan.  During West Michigan summers, you can enjoy activities such as: kayaking, swimming in Lake Michigan, strolling through the Frederik Meijer Gardens, bike rides on trails, fishing, hiking, and many more.

After a steamy summer, the crisp fall breeze in West Michigan is welcomed with open arms. Fall in West Michigan has residents and visitors falling in love with the area even more. After Labor Day weekend, cool breezes and chilly nights begin to return. Temperatures range from 40-65 degrees which allows for plenty of outdoor and indoor activity opportunities. Residents and visitors can enjoy the many apple orchards and cider mills West Michigan has to offer. Additional fall favorites are visiting coffee shops, ArtPrize, corn mazes and pumpkin patches, fall foliage tours, Oktoberfest, and more!  

Winter in West Michigan has a bad rap, regardless of the plethora of activities that come with it. West Michigan provides plenty of outdoor and indoor activities in the winter that can accommodate those who do, and do not love the cold. The cold temperatures range from 20-45 degrees, but the lows can dip into the 10s. Some indoor activities to stay warm during the West Michigan winter are visiting museums (Grand Rapids Public Museum, Gerald R. Ford Presidential Museum, Muskegon Museum of Art, Mecosta County Historical Museum), enjoy a meal at the many highly rated restaurants, Christmas shopping at the mall or outlet malls, and more! Those brave enough for outdoor activities can enjoy skiing, snowmobiling, sledding, ice skating, Christmas Tree lighting, outdoor holiday markets, and more. 

As Michiganders say goodbye to wintry weather, they welcome blooming flowers. Spring in West Michigan has a lot of fun activities and events for residents and visitors to attend. The temperatures vary the most in the springtime ranging from 40-70 degrees (depending on what the groundhog says). Holland, Michigan hosts its famous Tulip Time Festival in May—be sure to go when the tulips are in full bloom. Other activities to enjoy in the spring are visiting farmer’s markets, trying breweries, fishing, boating, baseball games, and zoo trips!

Battle Creek 

Kalmazoo Battle Creek International Airport (AZO)
Today, the Kalamazoo/Battle Creek International Airport is served by 4 major airlines that fly hundreds of passengers each day to major hubs with worldwide connections. The airport is self-sufficient and has a significant economic impact on Southwest Michigan. The goal of the Kalamazoo/Battle Creek International Airport staff is to continue to provide a variety of safe, reliable commercial air transportation services to our customers and to adequately adapt and expand to meet their needs.

W.K. Kellogg Airport
W.K. Kellogg Airport is located approximately three miles
west of the City of Battle Creek and immediately south of the City of Springfield. For the 2007 calendar year, Kellogg Airport was the third busiest airport in Michigan.  Additionally, on a national basis, in 2007 Kellogg Airport was ranked number 179 out of 502 towered airports.

Grand Haven 


The Grand Haven Memorial Airport

The Grand Haven Memorial Airport provides the Grand Haven area with a convenient, accessible and safe Airport for business and recreational small aircraft users. Grand Haven Memorial Airport is a U-5 General Aviation all-weather facility, licensed by the Michigan Bureau of Aeronautics.

Gerald R. Ford International Airport 

In December of 1999, Kent County International Airport became Gerald R. Ford International Airport in honor of Gerald R. Ford, the 38th President of the United States. President Ford served West Michigan as a U.S. Congressman from 1949-1973 and was a long-time supporter of the airport.

Holland

Park Township Airport
Park Township Airport (HLM) is located 4 miles northwest of beautiful Holland, Michigan. You will find it just a mile or so east of Lake Michigan, on the north side of Lake Macatawa placed between Big Bay and Pine Creek Bay.  A well maintained lighted paved strip welcomes you on final, but watch the trees! We are working hard to get the approaches cleared for you!  Our simple service building has 24 hour access.  A phone & weather and rest rooms make it a good place to gather yourself for the day’s activity or flight planning.

Kalamazoo

Muskegon

Muskegon County Airport
The Muskegon County Airport is a safe, clean and modern commercial air facility serving a five-county area along the beautiful Lake Michigan shoreline. Regional airline services are provided by SkyWest Airlines, operating as United Airlines, with 50 passenger jet service to Chicago O’Hare. Rental car services are provided by Alamo, Avis, Hertz and National.
