We’ve scoped out a few organizations that we think help adults with friend finding in West Michigan. The key: repeated interactions. Any activity where you see the same people in a social setting repeatedly over a short period of time is the first step to finding friends in West Michigan. The next step? Getting out of the house, making plans, and nurturing the fledgling friendships.
Grand Rapids Sport and Social Club – 8 week sports leagues happening throughout the year, with built-in happy hours
Girls Pint Out – a group of women that enjoys local breweries and craft beer education
Newcomers Club of Greater Grand Rapids – a social group that invites people of all ages and backgrounds to make new friends, enjoy fun activities and learn about the Grand Rapids community. They offer interest groups such as crafters, moms, golfers, readers, and more.
United Way Young Leaders Society – a group for young professionals who volunteer together throughout the year.
Serving on a board or committee of a non-profit is a great way to make deeper connections with someone because you’re bonding over a shared interest, working together on projects, and meeting regularly.
