As remarkable as West Michigan summer is, fall has just as much to love! We feel like summertime can sometimes overshadow the other season, so this fall, we decided to theme-ify our October–welcome to “Fallin’ for West Michigan!” This October, we are going to highlight some fall favorites in West Michigan along with getting to know our team and our personal fall festivities. We encourage you to participate with us using our hashtag #FallinForWM and share your fall favorites with us!

To kick off our fall theme, we asked our team one simple question–why did you fall for West Michigan?

Terry Hosnik – “Nothing better than sitting around a campfire with friends on a crisp evening with a local brew in hand.”

If you enjoy trying local brews like Terry, try New Holland Brewing Co., Odd Side Ales, or Founders Brewing Co.

Julie Burrell – “I LOVE our rural communities! I’m fallin for West Michigan’s friendly neighbors, big backyards & abundant nature!  The best place to raise a family!”

If you want to experience the colorful fall foliage like Julie, take a walk along the trails of Newaygo County and follow the Fall Color Route along the way!

Ben Wood – “The landscapes, the ‘help others’ mentality of West Michigan folks and most all, the four seasons.  We have it all!”

Rafael Martinez – “Hot cider around a bonfire with friends made me fall for WM.”

Try these cider mills if you love to sip a hot cup of cider during autumn.

Cindy Brown – “Picking apples, going to a pumpkin patch, going to the Lakeshore to see the waves of Lake Michigan, and football games.”

There are plenty of pumpkin patches during fall season in West Michigan, so take a look at this article that ranks a top 15 to visit!

Maria Pappas – “Moving here from Illinois, I didn’t realize how many more outdoor activities and resources there were on the other side of the lake! I fall for West Michigan more and more each day as I continually discover what the Mitten state has to offer–but some specifics are beach sunsets, farmers markets, and apple orchards!

For a beautiful beach sunset, try Grand Haven State Park or Holland State Park. Maria’s farmers market favorites are Fulton Street Farmers Market and Muskegon Farmers Market. Check out this article to read  about 15 apple orchards to visit in West Michigan!

Jessica Kuster – “I love the variety of activities that West Michigan offers! I can enjoy the city life or escape into nature on a hike, a bike-ride, or beach day. Oh and the donuts…the delicious donuts! Some of my fall-favorites are the pumpkin donuts from Post Family Farms, classic cinnamon sugar from Robinette’s (even served them at my wedding), or Marge’s for your everyday donut cravings.”

Samilla Asante – “One thing that I was really fascinated by is the fall season. It was so beautiful and intriguing to see the leaves change color because where I am from (Ghana) we do not have change in seasons at all; it’s pretty much just warm all year round. So I definitely look forward to fall the most and it is my favorite.”

Rachel Gray – “I love the variety of settings in West Michigan. We have an urban downtown, distinct walkable neighborhoods, suburbs, rural farms, and lakeshore living. Whatever setting you want to enjoy for the day, it’s probably only 30 minutes away or less!”

Olivia Lanctot – “I fell for West Michigan for football and tailgating… mostly the tailgating, though.”

Eric Icard – “Chili season. I love the transition from grilling to crockpot food.”
