Being a father of four who enjoys the city and life in the country, West Michigan is the best of both worlds for Daniel. Daniel attended high school, college, and graduate school in West Michigan. After completing his degree, he ventured out of the state and found himself living in several different states. He has previously lived in upstate New York, Ohio, Indiana, and Texas, but is now back where he belongs – in West Michigan. Both he and his wife grew up here, so after moving around the country they were both eager to return back to their stomping grounds. Daniel dropped his resume on our site to get job search assistance and to be connected with employers in West Michigan. Some of Daniel’s favorite places that drew him back here are Downtown Grand Rapids, Lake Michigan, Reeds Lake, Ada, and the ability to relax out in the country.

Daniel took advantage of our job assistance services by dropping his resume on our site to get connected with local employers. Shortly after passing along his resume, he transitioned from a role working in a privately-held community bank to landing a position at Five Star Real Estate as a Real Estate Agent. He said: “Real estate is a fun way to expand my knowledge of West Michigan. It quickly gets you up-to-speed on market conditions.”

After learning the ropes at his new gig, he feels he has grown professionally in his new position.  “It has enabled me to use my soft skills in diplomatic relationship management more frequently,” he says.

After settling into their new home, Daniel attended a Michigan Made Mixer (a casual networking event for the newly relocated to learn about the community and meet new people) at 7 Monks Taproom and connected with local West Michiganders. Attending this event helped Daniel get reconnected to the community and provided a warm welcome back home. The transition to Michigan from Texas was challenging at first, but this boomerang is excited to be around friendly faces and fresh air.

Need some ideas for unique restaurants to visit in West Michigan? Daniel recommends New Hotel Mertens, Osta’s Lebanese Cuisine, Bistro Bella Vita.

If you’re looking to grab a cup of coffee or a drink, Daniel likes to visit Squibb Coffee & Wine Bar, That Early Bird, and Simply Celia’s.
