Everyone knows there’s a talent shortage in West Michigan, and solving it requires a multipronged approach. For our 2019 Annual Meeting, we’re taking a closer look at strategies for attracting and retaining veteran talent, a segment of the workforce that is underutilized.

The military will pay for veterans’ first relocation after active duty, meaning they can choose anywhere to live. But is your company doing all it can to be a veteran-friendly employer and attract this highly skilled talent?

We’re proud to welcome keynote speaker First Sergeant (ret) Matt Eversmann. Matt served in the Army for 20 years and was honored with the Bronze Star Medal for his role in the First Battle of Mogadishu, which was depicted in the blockbuster film Black Hawk Down.

Matt will share his transition story from 20 years of active duty through 10 years of corporate life. His experience, like many veterans, had predictable frustrations and preventable obstacles that hindered his professional journey. Matt’s story highlights what he calls “the Veteran’s Predicament” where great military talent is overlooked by great employers and how these enterprises can tap into this fantastic pool of servicemen and women to strengthen their bottom line.

In addition to our keynote, get an update on all we’ve done in the last 12 months and our plans for the upcoming year.
